If you take narcotics for pain, and they are the only thing that helps, are you an addict?
I have undiagnosed cause for chronic pain, ? realtion to a chronic infection I had for alomst 5 years. ibuprofin, neproxin, tylenol, celebrex, dolobid don't help, at one time they did! I am in pain all over, my bones hurt, crack, grind and ache all day, everyday, and no I don't have a low pain tolerance, i gave birth to 2 kids strait up no pain meds or spinals. it sucks having constant pain and not knowing why! Is it still addiction when they are the only thing that helps?
I have been seeing Dr's for over a year over $7000.00 in healthcare this year alone, and they suck, because i still don't know what is wrong with me, the only abnormal thing that has come back is my C reative protine at 2.2.

If you take narcotics daily, you will be addicted. This means that if you stop taking them suddenly, you will go through withdrawals (not fun). You can gradually wean yourself off of the narcotics and this will avoid the problems, when the pain is gone.

Don't be afraid to take enough pain meds to make it worthwhile to live. Go to a doctor who will believe you and trust you as he/she will make sure you have enough pain meds. Don't overuse the meds. A good patient-doctor relationship is vitally important when pain meds are involved.

It sounds like you have some kind of imflammatory process going on in your body. I would be taking a NSAID (Ibuprofen, Naprosyn, Celebrex, or others) every day to see if you can calm it down.

You need to go to a "teaching" hospital that is connected to a major medical school. They like mysterious cases like yours and you may find out what is going on.
Good luck.

There doesn't seem to be a consensus on this sort of thing. Most pain specialists believe that people with chronic pain need to get whatever medication gives them the highest quality of life. Other people view reliance on pain medication as an addiction. I agree with the pain specialists - If the quality of life is improved by medication, then its the right thing to do, addicted or not. People that do not have chronic pain, but constantly use pain medication, are likely to experience a decline in their quality of life.

There are two types of addicts. Those who are physically addicted and those who are psychologically addicted.

You are probably physically addicted. If you have been on them daily for a month or more. If you suddenly stopped, you would go through withdrawals, but not crave the drug.

Psychologically addicted are people who abuse drugs. Take more than they should or take them only to get high and then resort to criminal behavior to get them, etc. They are also physically addicted--but only because they were psychologically addicted first. They can't stop because of the cravings.

Hope that makes sense.

The Nicene Creed just like the Apollo Creed and all other creeds is simply a profession of faith. It's not adding anything to scripture. Basically the Nicene Creed like all other creeds are a summary or what the faith and belief is built on by that I mean on what particular doctrines one adheres to in their belief of God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit. But it's not an addition to scriptures at all.
