There are all types of self help items out there for him but bottom line he will not quit until he’s ready and no telling when that will be.
I’m in the same boat, I smoke and smoke I’ve tried all types of self help remedies. I talk with people who quit and the biggest common denominator I find with them is they quit cold turkey because they were just sick of it.

Yes he can. Die.....I have the same problem with my wife. she will quit for a few days then she'll grab a cigarette. if you ask her why she started smoking again. She'll say " I drive her to smoke" no other reason. I mean a pack in 6 to 7 hrs. She drove me to drink but iv'e been clean for almost 9 years now.
