well having a cat is very rewarding, they love to cuddle, and will do just about anything to make you happy. owning a cat is also therapy, because its a proven fact that they have healed sick people. a study was done with the elderly those who had a cat and those who didn't, the ones who didn't there was hardly any improvement while those who did the improvement was phenomenal. The ones with a cat were happier, not so depressed, they ate better, slept better, and even found a way to get around better. This was due to them having something depending on them. they found that the elderly felt less depressed because they were doing something, they felt needed for the first time in a long time. They were able to move much more easier, when at one time they were to stiff to move, they ate better, and their out look was improved. there has also been documentation of cats saving lives, waking people when there was a fire, and saving babies lives because they stopped breathing, alerting the parents that something was wrong, giving them the chance to get help.
outside of that cats a joy to have around, they are content to just sit around and love you. The drawback would be the fur that accumulates, or them scratching your furniture. Those are things you can teach them not to do though. The joy of having them around far out weighed the negative aspects.
hope this helps.

The best thing of having or owning a cat
they are excellant company,
keep someone warm
while in bed
hearing their meowing and purring
they love to be petted
rubbing up against the person.

Perhaps the worse thing
is check ups but a responsible owner would look after their cat

I don't know whether best and worse are the right words. But there are pros and cons. Pro cats are wonderful to watch and love. There is something more primitive about them then dogs. I have both. Con is the kitty box. Can be a bit smelly so you have to keep up with it. When I go away for a couple of days. I can leave my cats with food water and clean kitty box. My beagle has to be boarded or taken with me. So cats do give you a bit more freedom. I think the neat thing about cats are they choose you. I don't think you can ever own a cat. They do choose to own you. My kitty Matthew doesn't care what I am doing or whats in my lap when he decides he needs love. He takes up residence. Enjoy your new pet and Happy Holidays

The best thing about owning a cat, in my opinion, is the feeling of unconditional love that a cat can give you. There is nothing like sitting on the couch with a purring cat in your lap.

The worst thing? Finding dead rodents in the house. Of course, this also means that you probably won't have to worry about mice.

The best thing by far is the love they give you. No matter how bad your day, there's always someone to love you. The wose? litter box duty! I hate it, but 3 cats and 3 litterboxes add up to yuck! if they don't get changed. Oh, and if you get a Siamese, spay imiediatly! I didn't know Siamese could go into heat at 4 months! Talk about annoying! Trust me, it's a maricale that Siamese have survived! I don't know how breeders can live with unfixed cats and keep their sanity! I just about lost mine, and then my vet said I couldn't spay her until she was 6 months because he doesn't do early spays.

Best:

You have a little furball that will sit contentedly in your lap and purr. It gives you a warm feeling that's only beat when it's your own baby sitting there.

Worst: when it's 5 AM on a Saturday morning, and you really want to sleep in, but the cat says it's breakfast time. Especially if the cat is vocal, and starts yowling until you get up.

Oh, yeah - litter boxes aren't much fun, either.

I have three cats, they love me! I agree the best thing is love, they know when you are feeling blue and make an extra effort to comfort you.

The worst, one of my cats likes to purge on food and puke it up, and I don't really care for the litter box. But they are worth it I love them like children.

best: having a lovable friend next to you. sleeping with a warm and and fuzzy pillow(cat) by your feet or by your stomach keeping you warm. laughing at the funny things that it'll do, to how it jumps when you scare it, to how it runs to the window to see pigeons and slams into it, to how it begs for tuna or a just-fried/baked piece of chicken.

worst: litter box, scratched furnature if you don't have a little cat house set up, and the fur everywhere if its a long-haired cat.

But I love my cutie regardless of the hair, the scratching, etc. ^_^

i dont think theres anything bad about owning a cat. unless you have a couple. I have 3 and I have to clean the litter boxes twice a day. which it doesnt bother me, but for some people im sure it would. I love my cats, they sleep with me, there fun to play with, soft and fuzzy. plus there not like dogs when there always up your but following you around, and you dont have to take them outside to go potty. thats a good thing.

The best thing is how they curl up at my feet and keep them warm. The worst is having to go to work everyday and leave them at home. And I don't really like their "help" when I'm doing things like wrapping presents! Kitties are so great!
