Everyone has different opinions do what makes they're relationship last. Like people who aren't good with commitment usually, they are the types to be with someone who would engage in casualy flings, like become swingers, or porn stars, or have a relationship that envolves both them and one other person.

Then you have the people who cherish being with one person. And some of those people as well can be people. Like, they want someone to have a certain look, or a certain personality, occupation. As far as occupation, you've heard the term "Rich girls don't marry poor boys." Some people like the general standards, a man should take care of a woman, and be man of the house. Not everyone agrees with that either, some women don't mind taking care of a man, as long as he is faithful, and taking care of the house and kids(if they have any) while she works.

There's a lot of wants and needs for different people. Even some cultures go about relationships differenty. I believe you should go for what you believe would make you most happy. Along the way, don't critize, misjudge anyone. You won't have a "perfect person" but you could end up with someone perfect for you. Just know what you want!

Communication is the main ingredient. I also like to add in a cup of chemistry, passion and attraction personally :-)

But communications is #1. Both people involved should be on the 'same page' in all areas of the relationship. You should be comfortable enough to discuss sex, money, lifestyle, current future goals, your failures, accomplishments, the good, the bad and... the ugly.

No relationship is perfect. Issues will 'always' come up. Communciate (discuss not argue, nag or complain) and 'share' your feelings and concerns with your mate if you want your relationship to last.

Well, it really depends on the couple and their personality. In my case, in order for a relationship to last for me is:

Love: true love, not physical. I have to know that the guy really loves me for me and not what I can do for him.

Trust: trusting me in whatever I do or say. Without trust, there is not relationship in the first place.

Respect: respecting me no matter who is around or whatever anyone says, especially if there are kids involved. My boyfriend has kids and we are having some trouble right now because I feel he is not making his kids have respect for me or the house we are living in. i.e. cleanliness of the house, tone of voice towards me, etc.

Those are the most important attributes to me in a relationship. Without ALL of those, I can't be in a relationship with a man.

Honesty is very important, in any relationship. Being physically attracted to the other person is also important. Being able to trust a guy around other girls, being secure in your relationship. Respect for the other person. Being sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of the other, is also necessary...

well there are alot of things but the main thing is to have trust, honesty, affection, understanding, sense of humor, and me personally love to be goofy! But you also both need to love each other and want it to work and dont run away when things get ruff...work it out! And if it is meant to be God will handle the rest.
