I am investingating as to why my media players other than Windows Media Player are crashing irritatingly often, so often that it has almost become impossible to play anything on Winamp. Videolan has no problem while watching movies but while playing mp3 songs it too crashes. For Winamp just the act of minimizing or maximizing the window can result in a crash. "Winamp has performed an illegal operation and will be closed down" baam....!

Any idea as to why this might be occuring?

Are you using all current versions of your software? Do you have more than one media player loaded at a time, this could be causing internal conflicts such as drivers and such. Do all other windows updates.
