yea if thats affordable. My parents and my mother in law only spend about 25-30 on each grandchild and i think thats plenty. Theres no set amount. Depends on what you can afford. Some years might be more and some years might be less. Its not about gifts anyways :) GOODLUCK!!

It's absolutely sufficient. Christmas is not about how much money is spent. It's supposed to be a time for family and friendship and being thankful for what you have. If the 8 year old thinks 50.00 isn't enough, then someone needs to sit her down and talk to her about being a material little brat.

my grandpa use to send me $50 every christmas so I could buy whatever I want...he did that until I was 19.

It is just fine. Just pick something she will enjoy - she doesn't need to know how much you paid. If it is cash, she can pick something she wants.
