I miss them too, found this recipe for Copycat Oreos but used butter Crisco and it is pretty close to Hydrox still trying to get it perfect but hey it's better than nothing.
HOME MADE OREO COOKIES
COOKIE INGREDIENTS:
18 oz Devils Food Cake Mix
2 tbsp Cooking Oil
2 tbsp Water
1/4 cup Cocoa Powder
FILLING INGREDIENTS:
1 pkg Unflavored gelatin (1 envelope)
1 tsp Vanilla
1/4 cup Water
4 3/4 cup Powdered Sugar
1 cup Vegetable Shortening (Crisco)
COOKIE DIRECTIONS:
Blend all ingredients together until you can shape the
dough into a smooth ball. Let stand 20 minutes, loosely
covered. Form dough into marble-sized balls. Place 2
inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Flatten each with
a smooth bottom of a drinking glass greased once and
dipped into Nestle's Quik Powder. Bake at 400 for 8
minutes. Remove at once from baking sheet, to paper
toweling, and immediately flatten each cookie with a
smooth spatula. Let cool 20 minutes.
FILLING DIRECTIONS:
Bring all ingredients to room temperature. Add gelatin
to the water in a clear cup. Place cup into a pan of hot
water until gelatin becomes transparent. Whip the
vegetable shortening adding the vanilla and powdered
sugar a small amount at a time. Add the gelatin and mix
thoroughly. Let cool. Roll into 1" balls. Place between
the two bottom sides of the cooled cookies, and press
gently until the filling has spread to the edge.

Yesssss!! My brother and I used to go there with our grandfather who always ate those ham sandwiches! There were two different places where you could get something to eat there - the cafeteria style deli in the back of the store and a little kiosk-type of concession stand up front which sold popcorn, various munchies and a bright, hot pink frozen dessert served in a clear cup called a "Cool Ghoul" that was cherry-flavored and OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Just one more fantastic memory of my childhood - growing up in Northwest Houston (Spring Branch, specifically) where/when parents weren't worried as much about childhood obesity, gluten allergies, overly sugary snacks, just to name a few things that took away our "rights" to just be children. I sure do miss the "good old days." Sigh...

Yes, I remember them. Even though the name sounds like a cleaning product, they were quite good.
