I believe in the existence of God and would most times find it strange that after seeing all that life entails I should still conclude that God does not exist.
Well I do know that some persons have gone through so much that they are like 'is it possible that this God should exist' I dont know to defend God but I do know there should be a reason for me to decide that He does not exist.

Think about it this way. If people can believe that there is one supreme being that created all things in a period of 7 days, why is it so far fetched that people might believe in evolution or any other theories out there explaining our existence. You don't need to decide that god doesn't exist just because other people don't. Any one can have valid arguments on either side, but there is no definitive proof either way so it simply comes down to belief.

Less see, about 1/3 of the people in the world consider themselves to be Christians. Last time I checked, they believed in God. Add the Muslims (which are another 1/3 of the world) and you have already pasted the half way mark. By the time you add in the thousands of other religions, the theist greatly outnumber the atheist. Last poll numbers I recall for the US put belief in god over the 70% mark. (This in the best educated country in the world).

If you look down through histroy, the theist have always been in the majority. Every culture has had a religion or god(s). Anytime a society has tried to ban religion, it has failed. The drive towards god is stronger than any argument against him.

One posting says "young educated people do not believe in God". I would question the word "educated" in the sentence. My experience is that "education" has little to do with believing or not believing. Often "young" is the mosre important factor. Almost every person at some point questions the religion and value with which they were raised. So it is not unusual to see "young people" who are questioning God. Same as they question all the other moral and social values of their parents. That is part of growing up. Every generation does it.

But watch those youth over the next 20-30 years. Where do they run when their child's life is threatened by an illness or injury? How many go back to church after a divorce or the death of a spouse? Who do they call on in the middle of the night, when there is no where else to turn? Experience and maturity will bring many of those people back towards the faith in which they were raised.

Is there a God? Most people through history have found reason to believe there is. There is enough evidence to convice millions and millions. Many of the most brilliant and highly educated people in the world have been theist. Some of the least educated and unlearned have also. So apparently the evidence of the existence of God is both simple and profound enough for both.

Sometimes for people it's hard to believe in a being that you can't see. But if you think of it this way??? The wind blows but you can't see the wind, you can see things move around when it blows. The same with believing in God, you can't see him, but look around you. The sky, the moon ,the ground you walk on. Even the presences of those that existed before you. If he didn't exist then how did these things came to be. Evaluation is a myth, How can man turn from a monkey into a human. If that was the truth, Why is it that there are still monkey's in the zoo. Why haven't they changed. Alot of the things that are mentioned in the Bible which was written long time ago are coming to past now. How is it that Someone way in the past would know what will happen in our futures.

It boils down to 2 things for me, how does one reconcile omnipotence, omnibenevolence and omniscience with this world and the life on it. And, why are there so many billions of people living in entire, huge countries whose culture has nothing remotely like the xian god and jesus. Here is a post I did before on the topic:

Because I look at what life was like for human beings for the past 40,000 years (maybe 6,000 for you). People lived for an average of 30-40 years. More than 50% of children died before age one (until about 100 years ago!). I look at thousands of children permanently blinded by parasites they get from playing in creeks in underdeveloped countries.

I know you'll say that god doesn't want a perfect world, but this is NOT the best of all possible worlds even without "perfection", you shoudl read Candide sometime.

Atheists are a minority. If you look at the whole world, almost every culture has a religion, unless it's a Communist country, and in those cases religion was usually taken from them. At last count, in the US, only 14 percent consider themselves Atheist, Agnostic, or simply claim no religion, which can mean they just don't give it alot of thought. And we are one of the least religious countries. Think of European countries with their many cathedrals and huge churches. Add to that the amount of Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, Muslims, and various Animist religions of less developed countries, and you have a whole lot of people believing in God, whether it be a Christian God or not.

Also for the person implying that "most educated young people" don't believe in God, this is simply not true as there are a large number of faith based colleges. I think the lack of young believers is due to a diminishing of the close ties families used to have which often included church. Also, inappropriate media being constantly fed to youngsters is definitely changing them. 6 days of MTV and 2 hours of church or less does not balance.

I think what you see alot is most people HOPING there is no God. When you don't have to stick to any type of moral code or go to church or pay tithe or anything, life for some is seen as being easier. And some people are angry with God for things that have happened to him. But I see it this way; when I was in the military there is a famous quote that people use alot. It says "There are no atheists in foxholes." And no matter what, there is story after story of people in their last moments of death, whether in the hospital bed or on the battlefield, and "God" is the name on their lips at the end.

Why do most people believe that God does not exist? Where are you getting your facts? Your wrong most people throughout the world believe in a God or Gods! The % of people who do NOT believe in a God of any sort is very very small

All of those who "claim" to not believe in God actually does know and believe that He exists but refuse to obey Him, the exact same way satan does. If they didn't believe in God's exhistance, why do they always shout "Oh My God" when they are facing certian death or harm to themselves. This is a known fact.

They continually post about a God, that they claim they don't believe in. How strange is that. If you dont' believe in something, why bring it up all the time, the way the so called "non believers" do here daily? Who do they think they are fooling? God? Nope. Christians? Nope. Oh yes... themselves!

This day is coming in our life time....

Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

Most people do not understand that Satan is in control of the world right now and they think that all this mess, violence, confusion, hatred, etc. comes from either the chaos which might result from a big bang or from a lack of love rather than a loving God.

Back to Noah,I can only imagine the fear of those left when rain

God has:t closed the door on the "church" so climb aboard.

because it is just that, a "belief". I might believe that I see leprechauns in my bedroom every morning, someone else might believe that Bigfoot is real. but until any of us can provide any type of empirical, hard and fast evidence that these things exist, then they will remain "beliefs". That's the beauty part though, that we are free to believe anything we choose just as long as we do not try to impart our beliefs on people in a way that is harmful or unsolicited.
