This is exactly what friends of mine did. The ceremony was in one ballroom. After the ceremony we had cocktails in the lobby. Then we went into a different ballroom for dinner and dancing. It was very nice. It is also convenient to stay the night, so no one has to worry about designated drivers.

I've heard of it. Many times the hotel has special gardens or lawns set up for wedding ceremonies. Indoors, they can create an alter/aisle area, or often have smaller rooms already set up. I went to a wedding where the ceremony was outside next to a waterfall, and the reception was in the ballroom. It was nice.

Couples are choosing to do this now so that their guests don't have to worry about driving and getting lost or being late, etc. It works out well when you choose the right location! Most hotels will do an outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception and it looks amazing! Good luck!

This happens all the time, and I did it with great success. The hotel I got married at is actualy designed to have both the ceremony and reception there.
It was fantastic to have both parts at the same place. It kept our guests happy and the party really flowing. There are great pictures of how this hotel does it at www.thewoodmarkhotel.com.

I haven't done one myself but it's possible. The ceremony maybe held in one room and the reception elsewhere at the same hotel. Just talk to the management about it.

i am having my wedding ceremony and reception at a hotel. It is going to be beautiful. Alot of people go that route. Usually if you book both there you can also get a discount.

My husband and I did. It was absolutely wonderful! It was so easy! We had lots of out-of-town guests who were able to stay at the resort, as did we for a few days beforehand. It made it easy to not have to travel much.
Most hotels and resorts offer a ceremony package - we had ours outdoors in a large white event tent on a golf course, and it was gorgeous! Then we had the reception afterwards and everyone just walked inside for our cocktail hour and dinner....you should really consider it. A lot of people told us they appreciated only having to find one place, and that since we did them back to back, they didn't have to find something to do in between the ceremony and reception.

That is very common. Most hotels have a seperate room for the ceremony and can reccomend a minister who has held ceremonies there before. I would call the hotel you are interested in and asked them to run you through it.

yeah, it's very common. usually the ceremony ends and people wait for a little while outside of the reception area, check in and what not. then, when they open up the room, people start to mingle and trickle into there until it's time for the reception to start.

It happens all the time and it goes very well. I've been to a lot of weddings done that way. Hotels employee even coordinators that can help arrange all of it, even the ceremony.
