get a restraining order! no, seriously I would just be a bit more firm about it and say "this isn't a debate, it's just over".. however, his determination to keep you is an indication that he really likes you and won't let his hurt pride over being dumped stand in the way of being with you.. so are you sure you really want to end it? it sounds like he likes you a lot!

Sometimes you just have to be really firm. Return all the gifts he brought you, delete his number from your phone, and stop hanging out with any mutual friends so you won't run into your ex.
If you hang out with him after the breakup or call him, then you are giving him the message that it's not really over, that he still has a chance. If you think he won't get the message, and if he starts to get kind of stalkerish, you can always get a restraining order. Nothing says "we're over" like a court order!
Hope this helps!

So you have decided to leave him (The hardest Part) so don't worry about it just try getting some sense into him...Move on... he'll soon catch up! You just need to get going with your life sometimes its really difficult I know! its hard but he's gotta learn either the hard way or the easy way! You don't want anything with him anymore and he can't keep thinking that he owns you or something like that! You are someone that has strength and power! don't let anyone step on you and bring yourself to the next stage in your life and leave that person that is just limiting your freedom...GooD Luck

tell him he doesnt have a say in it. if you break up with him, he cant force you to continue seeing him. tell him you do not want him to call or come to your house, and if he wont comply talk to the local police and get a restraining order and let your ex know that if he continues to harass you he will be arrested.
then date a REALLY big muscular guy for a while so he can be your body guard :)

Keep notes on what he does. Record his messages, calls, etc. Save his letters, notes, gifts. etc. Try to have a witness whenever he is in your presence. If he becomes a stalker you will be in a position to have the authorities deal with him. Don't do anything else that might lead him on, like returning his calls or messages.

Return all gifts given, call his mom and tell her whats up, notify all people around you that this has happened for your own security. You can always get a restraining order later if these steps don't work.

Yikes, stalker much?
Tell him that unless he shows you a 2 carat diamond that you WILL have independantly appraised, you are hitting the road. And you want 5 babies all in a row, and you insist on shaving your head and joining a cult.

If you are really ready for it to be over tell him you are done... leave and change your number so he can not keep calling you. I hate it when a guy used to try and guilt me into staying with him. It never worked... Good luck.

THINK! What can he do? What can he do to "not let you go" when you already left...?
Do nothing. As far as you are concerned, it is final. If he resort to any voilence or intimidation, involve your parents. If you are an adult age, call the police.
