If you have a strainer that is big enough to fit over a pot of boiling water and a lid to go over the strainer, I think that would work....

Microwave is great (and I don't really like a lot of things cooked in the microwave). Don't forget to add water and put a lid on it so it steams. Any veggie you cook in the microware without water gets kinds weird.

My mom has a microwave steamer she swears by, but I've never tried it. I think she got it at Target.

Yeah u can microwave it just add a little water and cling wrap
or
Boil a pot of salted water, when boiling add the broccoli for 1 - 2 mins depending on the size. Pour into strainer & serve
(then u could saute the broccoli off in some butter in a frying pan with finely chopped onion, salt & cracked black pepper).

The only way the milk will not scorch is to use a double boiler type steam method. Instead of steaming in milk, you may like a little cream cheese added to it Just add some slices of cream cheese to the top of the broccoli about 1 min before its done.

You can put it in the micro but it could easily over cook it. I put just a little salted water in a sauce pan, heat 'til barely simmering and drop the broccoli in...cover the pan. Check it occasionally and when it is bright green you will have perfectly cooked broccoli...not to raw and not limp.

Add a little water to a small pot, enough to generously cover the bottom, place the broccoli in the pot, with a lid until you reach your desired firmness.

I steam mine in my micro cooker by Pampered chef. It works really great.

You could just cook them in salted boiling water for no longer than 7 minutes. Five would be even better. Put them in ice water after cooking to seal in the color and then warm them with hot water.

They will be bright green and delicious.

Toss some pieces in a mug with a little water at the bottom, cover with a saucer and nuke for 2 min.
