ok so yesterday morning my bf told me that our dog vomited, before she had eaten anything that day, and it was just yellow liquid. i didnt really worry all that much, dogs puke.

then last night, she got REALLY wild and was running around the house and we were trainning her to jump things and she was getting really tired after a while and drinking lots of water and we decided she needed to calm down so we sat on the couch and she ate her dinner and jumped on the couch and puked on me. yes, right on me. it was yellow again, but it was thick and full of kibble.

other than that, she's acting fine and has been fine all morning. do you think she just ate too fast after being so hyper? or should i be a little more worried? i think its just the yellow coloring that has me a little worried, but i've always had dogs in my life, so i know they puke, even if it doesnt mean they are sick.

we've had her for almost 4 months, and she's only puked 4 times, and the last time was over a month ago, where the same thing happened in the same way - morning, liquidy; night, chunky

she eats fine, and she even ate again after she puked last night. and she loves her water so dehydration isnt a worry, and she even wanted to play more after getting sick last night.

so overexertion? i know if i play to hard i get nausious too, so i was pretty much figuring it was the same thing here

sounds like she ate a bit to fast... as long as she is acting normally, you really dont have to worry too much. If you notice a drastic change in her behavior then you can worry. Make sure she is drinking plenty of water, that her vomiting isnt dehydrating her (stretch the skin to check, it should snap back down), and make sure she is eating regurally. If its to the point that she cant keep anything down, then you should take her to the vet.

I know it can be hard but you must train your puppy to eat what he's given. I would recommend only giving him one treat after he eats his food and praise him as well so he knows he's done something good. It may take a while for your puppy to understand that if he does what you want he'll get something he wants in return. You have to be firm. Try feeding him in the morning and if he doesn't eat take the food away and wait till tomorrow. If you are not firm your puppy will walk all over you. I know it can be hard and you may feel like you're being mean but your pup can go one day without eating. And trust me when gets hungry enough he'll eat whatever you put in front of him. Once you get a good routine that should settle his stomach. Most puppies and dogs will have a weak stomach if they've just started a new type of food or a new eating routine.

I have researched this question in the past without finding a really good answer for what causes vomiting in the morning (mostly) in some dogs or for what to do about it.

The prevailing opinion is that many of the dogs that exhibit this clinical sign have inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or some other condition that causes a decrease in gastric mobility. This may lead to gastric reflux when the dog first gets up.

The most common treatments are histamine (H2) blockers
like cimetidine (Tagamet Rx) or famotidine (Pepcid AC tm), feeding small meals just before bed and using motility modifying medications like metoclopramide (Reglan Rx). These things sometimes work to control the problem and if no futher signs develop it is reasonable to continue treatment prophylactically without a firm diagnosis, at least in my opinion.

Your puppys food might have just not set right with her. I wouldn't worry about it but if the problem continues I would ask your vet to check her out. Do not give her any medicine, over the counter even, without first consulting with a vet. I hope this helped!

Maybe she doesn't digest her food well. Are you feeding her puppy food? Is it too big and she isn't chewing it up well enough?
Feed her small batches thoughout the day. When she gets older, then feed her twice a day.

I hope this advice helps.

It normal for kittens and puppies to puke after they play hard, or sometimes at random. As long as he is acting normal he is fine. Hope he didn't ruin your outfit:)
