Water, drinking the correct amount of water daily, burns calories, flushes toxins from your body & helps keep you regular.

Fiber, fiber tablets are my best friend. Or eat a good tasting fiber cereal everyday. I prefer Raisin Bran or Frosted Mini-Wheats.

Should solve your problem quickly and naturally.

Causes? You are getting older and it happens to the best of us.

Fiber. Fiber causes the bowel to retain water thereby softening the stool.

Psyllium Ovata (Konsyl, Metamucil, etc) normalizes the bowel action by causing the retention of moisture which would normally be absorbed through the mucosal lining.

Push fluids and take 18 grams of insoluble fiber a day and the problem of hard stools will dissipate.

Try more water and not waiting when you have to go. Your lower intestine pulls the moisture from the stool. If you wait and hold it in, even more moisture gets pulled out and the stool becomes firmer.

More water and more fiber. Metamucil makes Fiber Sure. It is a tasteless powder that you can add to water, juice, sauces and other foods. I used it when I was pregnant (After asking my doctor) and found I didn't get as constipated.

It sounds to me like you need more fiber in your diet. Most whole-grain breakfast cereals are good for that, as well as all breads. Oatmeal is good for that too. You could also try fiber supplements, either stuff like Metamucil or pills.

You may be a little constipated. Try drinking grape juice or cranberry juice or eat some fruit like grapes or strawberries, it will help you have a looser stool.
