I've been married over 20 years, but ran into this once or twice when I was single. Part of it is an ego thing. It is OK sometimes, but you should make a point that you want to "take him out" once. If he can't handle that you may have a problem in the future.
A word of warning though... Don't ever marry a guy who wants you to pay. He's a bum.

Personally, I think it is fine for a woman to pay for the date. Of course, some guys find this threatening.

Rule of thumb, the person who asks for the date pays for the date.

Make the language clear when you ask. Something like "Let me take you to Amy's and buy you an ice cream to celebrate " rather than something more generic like "Let's go get some Ice Cream". That way, if he gets defensive when you pull out your wallet you can simply remind him that you are treating him because of .

There is nothing wrong with that at all. He should let you do something nice for him once in a while, he obviously doesn't understand that you WANT to do something nice. Alot of people are like that. I went out on a date once where I paid for everything, then we went to the movies and my date offered to pay. I humbly accepted the offer (even though I had more than enough cash), but whats funny is she apologized, went to hand me the money and ask if I wanted to pay the cashier. She said that her ex would never let her do something like that. Even if it came out of her pocket, he would be the one to pay. People are wierd about stuff like that. Just play along.

No it is not wrong but If he wants to pay all the time and gets offended then let him pay. If you feel you need to chip in then surprise him with an occasional surprise meal like KFC (or something different only thing I could think of) and an at home rented movie. Not worth stressing over.

Its his ego girl dont worry about it. And there is nothing wrong with at least splitting the bill if he wants to pay and you want to pay too. A lot of men are like that. Some men are still old fashioned and men do have egos. Girl I say if he wants to pay let him. Save your money.

He probably realizes that he makes a lot more money than you so that's why he wants to pay all the time. Be happy to be in this situation, it's got to be better than being with a cheap boyfriend.

It sounds like he really appreciates you and doesn't want you spending your money for dates.

My suggestion is to go with it! If it really bothers him when you want to pay, by all means let him pay!

If it bothers you let him know that it does. It never hurts to discuss problems no matter how small you might think they are.

If he still doesn't want you paying, you could buy him a gift or something to show your appreciation.

No...it is just being polite. Next time you go to a movie or something, say "i'll get the tickets, and you go ahead and get the popcorn...." Or if he gets upset about you paying for dinner say "Fine, but I am tipping." If he wants to pay, let him but still go ahead and offer if you want. Bottom line, don't argue about it in public, and instead talk about it at home before you go out.

YES--just enjoy being with an 'old fashioned guy' since he doesn't have a problem with paying all the time. What a jewel! Lucky you--stop worrying.

I think that it is nice to think that a women would want to show that she can pay for things herself. Even though we men know that she is only acting like she wants to pay.
