What I believe that means is that yes, Jesus loves us very much, and even when things go bad, that Jesus will still be there for you.
But the quote goes on to state that you can defeat the world. That does not mean to take up arms and go out and fight people, but to stand firm against whatever is thrown against you. Because God is your strength and the source of your strength, in whom shall we fear. We are not to hate people, even though they may hate us. But with God's help, we will get through anything.

It is true that Jesus will always love you. Even if at final judgement you are deemed unworthy, you will be punished, but Jesus will still love you. My only problem with that phrase is this; if everyone hates you, you might want to examine why. You many be doing things Jesus doesn't want you to do, and in that case, you're not likely to defeat the world.

Since being a christian is so broad these days, and you didn't set limits on this, I think that saying is a bunch of BS, just like half the things that a christian should do or follow.
Being a good person, and never attending church, probably has a higher chance of doing more right and helping people, than all the backstabbing people who try to be the best. And on the Internet trying to exclude all us "other people"...

I think it's a lovely phrase. When you feel like the world is against you, you have an ally in the Lord for He will always love you.

It is true the Word tell us that He more than the world against you. He was despised and hated. Yet, Jesus stood His ground. He loved those who he knew did not love Him. He loved those who others casted off. There is not any greater love.

Jesus didn't have to be crucified, but voluntarily made that sacrifice. Anyone who is willing to give their life and suffer a violent death for the sake of others is a hero. And only boundless love will cause anyone to do it.

I think that it's important to acknowledge how much we are loved by God. How much we matter to him to send Jesus to be humiliated and suffer just for us. It doesn't matter if we have great relationships on earth if we don't have one with God. If everyone hated us and killed us, but we still tried with all of our heart to please God, we surely will be blessed. This kind of trust and faith will lead others to God, and even if it only brought one person to God, it would've been worth it.

Whatever. We used to sing "Jesus loves me" in Sunday school. I was only 4 years old. That's where this type of nonsense should stay; with the kiddies. Still its SAD that children get inculcated at such an early age that they think its all a fact.
