Overall, bad idea. Limewire and other P2P programs can not only make your computer vulnerable to viruses, but they include a LOT of spyware that is incredibly difficult to remove. On one computer that I had, I had to reformat the hard drive and reinstall Windows because I could not rid it of all of the spyware and other crap that was on there.

Other problems at work could surface as well. I don't know the policies of where you work, but many employers can and will fire a person for having unauthorized software on the computers. Its ability to create severe security flaws on your computer could lead the entire network to be disabled due to viruses or similar things, and if they find out that Limewire was the cause, that person probably shouldn't expect to have a favorable rating at the next evaluation, if there is a next one.

This is true. You might also want to look into the acceptable use policy at your office - many companies fire people for installing Limewire and similar software. I work in academia so it's not that bad, but if anybody is caught with Limewire or other file-sharing software on their computer then they do get a reprimand and their computer is taken away from them. Installing Limewire opens the company to losing millions of dollars to viruses as well as the possibility of expensive lawsuits if employees illegally download music. Your best bet is to uninstall it quickly and hope that it didn't do any damage and that nobody noticed and that you don't get into too much trouble.

Having limewire installed on the computer in itself does not giveyou viruses. However, the things you download via limewire brings the potential for viruses. Especially if you're downloading applications. Aside from viruses though I'd be worried about downloading illegal music on a work computer. That could get you fired.

How this helps.

McAfee... AVG... Spysweeper. hassle-free courses!!! yay... did you already know that some viruses are arranged to patch if no longer avert those malware courses as quickly as they are run? Your Antivirus won't capture the Virus except that distinctive malicious script is working. The virus must be recommended to patch the AV, then sleep till it relatively is patched, then resume after x quantity of time? stay faraway from Limewire, its no longer something yet difficulty. save you money and purchase a CD as quickly as each week, you have gotten a extensive series swifter than you already are conscious of it. There is often "mixture" CD-s like "WOW" that comprise a set of songs you DO choose minus those you do no longer. then you may RIP them from the CD and make your individual mixes w/o the songs you hate... then you're criminal and are not appearing some style of copyright infringement.

It is, and you should be working, not downloading music! Listen to me telling you what to do, as I sit at work and answer questions! But you could get a virus through limewire, my fiance did and he had to reformat his computer.

That's the least of your concerns. If the RIAA finds out you're illegally downloading songs, your company will be in hot water.
