Something in a famous paint? Do you mean a painting created by a famous artist?
Well, odds are you are probably wrong about it. But if you REALLY think you're right and that the artist is famous, take a good digital picture of it and send it to either
a) an auction house
b) a museum that handles works from that period
c) an art dealer that handles works from that period
d) me, an art dealer who is familiar with many kinds of work from various periods.

Keep the painting or take it to an auction coz sometimes you get great price offer to the original price you purchased it for. Or just simply keep it as a memento and you never know the value of painting might appreciate over time. Like it becoming antique. You'd be surprise at what cost people pay for painting/s that is somewhat unique.

Before you do anything, research. Read everything you can on the artist in question, his/her contemporaries and art history theory regarding the artist and other similar works. If after you read everything you can and you STILL think you have something special, contact an authority on the artist (hint: refer to the authors of your research pieces and/or authors credited therein) and tell your story. If this person verifies your findings, s/he may want to be a conduit for the discovery and offer your findings to relevant publications and other media.
This is could be a very exciting discovery, or at least a wonderful opportunity to learn something you might not have previously known.
Good luck.

Let the world know but don't be disappointed if nobody cares. For example Leonardo's "Concatenation" is a famous knotwork piece done by Leonardo da Vinci. The design if you color in the knotwork shows a leap frog design but nobody really cares.

Wonder what you might have discovered?
There isn't any money to be made or fame in it if that's what you're wondering. people discover new things or new interpretations (which is really all you're talking about) all the time.
So reveal all!

Write a book about it. Be sure to include in the title words like 'vatican', 'conspiracy', 'masonic' and 'jesus' (it helps to try and find at least a tenuous connection with these words and your discovery, but it's not essential). Then it's champagne and caviar all the way!
