The blood could come from you coughing a lot

If you have a diagnosed respiratory infection and have been coughing a lot, it could just be from irritated bronchioles.
The thing to know is was the blood bright red? If so, this means fresh blood. How much? Just a little smear on the tissue is not alarming.

Was it dark brown? This means the blood is old and has probably been there a while.

Do you have a lot of green, brown, bloody phlegm? Night sweats and fevers?--Head to the hospital!

Let the doctor know regardless. You made need antibiotics if you're not on them already.

It could be from infected sinuses or maybe from your lungs.

Are you running a fever, have a stopped up nose and such.

Been picking your nose a lot?

Pneumonia is usually a dry cough.

If you cough a lot, run a fever, see some blood in the mucus, see a doctor. Good luck. Pops

It could be something relatively simple like a few small burst blood vessels, that burst because you were coughing, but I think you should be seen by a doctor to be certain. I coughed up blood at 12 and was diagnosed a while later with Asthma. Please get checked out by a doctor.

You probably popped a tiny vein coughing so hard. Unless you cough up a large amount of blood...don't worry. Just get a good cough medicine. Delsym really works to keep you from coughing a lot. Give your chest/throat a chance to heal.

Well for one you have a terrible cold.

Could be the weather changing, if you're in a climate that is experiencing winter-y type conditions . Blowing your nose/coughing really hard and irritating the little vessels.

Go to the doctor if it's really bothering and you think it's serious. It's better to get things checked up on than worrying about them.

Your broncial tubes are inflamed and irratated from coughing a lot. There is nothing wrong with that.

But if it really is that bad, you should go see a doctor or at least take some type of cough supressant so you don't irritate them and make it even worse.

You could have something in your lungs. You may have pneumonia. You should go to the doctor and get it checked out. Coughing up blood isn't normal. It could be your throat.

busted capillaries in your nose from blowing it so much. the blood gets trapped in the mucous which goes down your throat into your lungs and you cough up. lovely, huh?
