would he give man Logic that can disprove the existence of Him..
This seems all the more bizarre when you read the old testament and see that he is a "jealous god", who's own Ten Commandments have 3 commandments dedicated to worshipping him..(bit conceited, no?)
Also, if he truly created the universe and everything in it, why would He need to force us to believe in him - surely someone as great would not need to ask, as his greatness would be assumed - yet he need 30% of the rules of life dedicated to admiring him...
The question is: Why would he give us the "gift" to disprove him (or even doubt him) when he is so obviously conceited and self-important.?

Free-will is not an answer, in many countries you can be killed for believing in a different interpretation of "him".. This is a spin off of one of the Ten Commandments . i.e. "Thou shalt not worship any other god" (or summat like that)

JC 301186 : lol, this is my favourite answer so far...you essentially say, God created us because nobody else was around to see how amazing he was...pmsl i love it...and strangely your comments reflect the bible : "created man for his pleasure.." - thats right, "his pleasure" is being told how great he is...lol - yes, if this was a man you would think he was a pathetic conceited attention seeker.. I think your right mate.

lil_chris: "then god would have made it so in the bible."
So your suggesting that the bible is your moral compass - interesting...I suggest you read the God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, in fact, I suggest you read the Bible - If you believe that teaches morals you are misguided.
If you believe the bible, you believe God is essentially evil by todays standards - he's jealous, selfish, conceited, racist, murderous, guilty of infanticide, guilty of mass murder, guilty of any number of crimes he stated as crimes in "his" ten commandments.
What Im basically saying is, regardless of the existence of God - The Bible, The Koran in fact any so called "holy" book are in fact a crock, hypocritical, inconsistent, self-contradicting BS.
Believe what you will, but dont fool yourself that religion is a way to righteousness..

Answer: The short answer to the question “why did God create us?” is “for His pleasure.” Revelation 4:11 says, “Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created.” Colossians 1:16 reiterates the point: “All things were created by Him and for Him.”
Being made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27), human beings have the ability to know God—and therefore love Him, worship Him, serve Him, and fellowship with Him. God did not create human beings because He needed them. As God, He needs nothing. In all eternity past, He felt no loneliness, so He was not looking for a “friend.” He loves us, but this is not the same as needing us. If we had never existed, God would still be God—the Unchanging One (Malachi 3:6).
The I AM THAT I AM (Exodus 3:14) was never dissatisfied with His own eternal existence. When He made the universe, He did what pleased Him, and since God is perfect, His action was perfect. “It was very good” (Genesis 1:31).
Also, God did not create “peers” or beings equal to Himself. Logically, He could not do so. If God were to create another being of equal power, intelligence, and perfection, then He would cease to be the One True God for the simple reason that there would be two gods—and that would be an impossibility. “The Lord He is God; there is none else beside Him” (Deuteronomy 4:35). Anything that God creates must of necessity be lesser than He. The thing made can never be greater than the One who made it.
Recognizing the complete sovereignty and holiness of God, we are amazed that He would take man and “crown him with glory and honor” (Psalm 8:5), and that He would condescend to call us “friends” (John 15:14-15).

so many questions... so little time...i'll try
let's see... initially God gave man only 1 command--do not eat the fruit of the tree (of the knowledge of good & evil)... then of course a serpent placed doubt into the (wo)man & that started all these. for God has to give man "commands" so as for them to know what is "good" & what is "evil".
but then why would logic & rational/critical thinking be not given man... man is supposed to have been created in God's image... (let us not assume that God is "dumb")
& 30% of the 10 being bizarre because God is a jealous God could be explained by realizing that the serpent fell out of grace from his (Satan's) high place in heaven because of his pride & believing himself higher than God... God gave the first 3 commands, so that He will be clear on that (breaking that will lead to your downfall & be the gateway to all other "evils")
lastly if God is the Creator, the Prime Mover, the Supreme Being... it could be "lonely" at the top... so he created man (in His image) to have fellowship with... not really forcing man to believe in him... but waiting to be acknowledged & be sought out.
Peace.

If it wasn't for God, you won't even exist, So he deserves to be worship, & it looks like to me you are the one that is conceited, or are you just jealous of God. By the way, God does not force anything on us, we have a free will. I have a free will to answer you without asking God, & you had a free will in asking this question definitly without you asking God. Did God force you to ask this question. Think about it.

if god exists then he can create what he wants, it's his prerogative.
if i was god i can do what i wanted, i would have no limits and bounds and see fit whatever i deemed was right.
but thats the thing god only chooses for man what is right according to logic reasoning and to god himself. if sleeping around without being married was a good thing then god would have made it so in the bible.
i think it is only in the last 200 years or so that man has developed the logic reasoning to disprove god. even the ancient greeks believed in the gods that lived on mount olympus eg zeusy hera hades etc (biggest bullshit ever).
before that almost every culture/nation had a god in some form, the ancient persians worshipped the sun as god and we see how stupid that is now, but why is it that they could not see that? were they any better or worse than us in conduct/action?
would you not say that today's society/people are worse?
god does not force anyone to believe in him. it is man's choice of whether he wants to or not. yes god does say do not follow the satan and that he is an enemy to you. but it is clear than those who transgress and follow satan will enter hell and those who follow god's true way will enter paradise. and one last thing god does not need man so dont anyone of you idiots expect to go to heaven just cuz you think your good. if you aint good according to god's way then your just good according to yourself and what you think is right/wrong etc.
p.s. last point. god is the most proud. and pride is only reserved for god. that is why he refers to himself as all these titles such as lord of the worlds 'most merciful' etc. and thats why the satan got kicked out of heaven, he was too proud and thought he was better than man.

If you created something so beautiful and important as the Universe, would you want people to forget that you created it? Would you want them to start worshipping other idols that did not create the world? If you've given the gift of life to people and they have a choice to have eternal life but instead they throw it back in your face, would you want that?
He did not give us the logic. According to you, you read the old testament so you will know that initially logic wasn't given to us by God but remember Eve, garden, apple??
For every thing holy there is something unholy (Satan). That is the essence of temptation. (quote from The Omen!)

Good questions!!!
1-God created man for companionship.
2-when he uses the term gods it's with a little g. Money can be a god to us, sex, power, Allah, Budda all gods-not real in the Creator sense. Just something we worship.
3- God does NOT force us at all to believe in him. We have free will. If we ask him to reveal himself to us he does! If we are sincere. But he has never forced himself on us. Hell for example is a place where God isn't-that's why it's Hell.
4- The gift I think you are talking about is salvation?
God will not accept sin, he can't, not his nature. BUT he gave us a gift of his grace. He gave us Jesus his son who was a sinless perfect sacrifice and his blood covers our sins, so when we appear before him we appear as his son, sinless. This was his gift. And anyone who believes on him will have this gift of salvation.

If God, or the Creator, had not created men, who would deliberate of God's existence? God would have no purpose of existing. However, if God is real and he created men, it was only to give purpose to himself I think. So really we are the reason, God has a purpose. Without us his existence would be unimportant.
Unless of course I am wrong, and if that is the case I fully repent what I say.

love is needed above all things. god recognised this, and created us to love, and to love him in return.
however, i'm sure you will agree that in order to love, it must be of your entire free will, nothing can be forced, or there is resentment, and with resentment, there cannot be love. so he has to give us the chance to understand and love him.
actually, although i've been going on as god being a he, i think it is more of a great power or intelligence, or force even, rather than something you can put a name and a face to
