I have had many guys tell me to "beware of a woman in red lipstick".
I'm not sure why though.

Depends on their skin tone. A woman who's pale as a ghost wearing red lipstick looks like a clown, and I hate clowns.

I think it depends on the situation. Red lipstick with the wrong makeup and clothing can be tacky. With the right outfit very hot!

you don't see that look too much anymore. looks good for a formal evening out but kinda trashy if worn to work or accompanied by a casual look.

Its sexy. But it cant be worn to walmart like pink or bronze can.
