I am a breastfeeding mother and recently I found out that my baby is colicky due to the dairy product intake. I have switched to soy milk, and as a result have noticed a big difference already. Although I was also wondering if I drank lactaid milk, if there would be the same results as the soy milk, or if she would become fussy again. Any feedback on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Lactaid free milk I think tastes about the same as regular milk, but if she is doing good while you are drinking the soy I would stick with it. It might be something else besides the lactose in the milk that she is having a problem with.

Lactaid milk is still cow milk that has had the enzyme removed that causes gas and cramps.

Soy milk is from soy beans and contains no dairy at all.

There is a difference, i think, but I don't know what it is. Rice milk often works too. It's hard to say if your baby is allergic to lactose or something else in the milk, so really, the only thing you can do is try it out and see what happens.
