there is no real way to increase ram speed, there are ram optimizer programs that apparently free up wasted memory but this is a bit of a hit and miss way
ram is so cheap these days that its easy to upgrade your ram and in your case you could buy a 128mb ram module for around £12,which would increase your physical ram 326mb
the reason for your memory only being 198(actually its 256mb) but 64mb of your memory has been alocated to video memory, however you can go into set-up(press delete at boot up) and then go into advanced bios options, and look for a video memory option(it may be in another part of set up,just look about ,it will be there) and when you find it you can then decrease it to as low as 8mb,thus increasing your system ram,but then you are limited to what games you can play ,however you can set your video memory to 32mb,and then your system ram will be 230mb
if money is limited i would advise these upgrades
128mb ram £12
a.t.i radeon 9250(128mb) £26 from http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Quicklinx=3T7Z&CategorySelectedId=11137&PageMode=1&NavigationKey=11137,42220000,371630000&InMerch=1
this would only come to £38 but the improvement in your p.c,s performance would be amazing,as the radeon 9250 has 128mb ram, this would take the strain of your system memory, and you would be able to set your onboard video in bios to the lowest setting(8mb),so with 248mb of system ram plus the additional 128mb upgrade this would give you 376mb ram, more than enough
the radeon 9250 also has pixel and shader model 1.5,which can play most direct x compatible games..all for £38
if you need any advice on bargain upgrades..just let me know
good luck mate
