In a recent answer Mae said:

"I don't like the fact they teach about Santa Clause. I feel it is wrong to lie to little kids about this scary strange man being so good he knows if your good or bad. " But she seems to feel it is ok to teach God as an angry old man in the sky who is controlling your life and will send you to hell if you don't do exactly as he says for your entire life?

I ask you?

People! Santa is simply the personification of the spirit of giving. It is that spirit that comes down our chimney each year. There are many personifications of god, some kind and some malevolent - but they are equally mythical, don't you think? How could we as humans understand the nature of God for goodness sake?!

I agree that the Christian God is just like Santa - he knows if you're naughty or nice, so you'd better be nice or else you'll be punished for disobeying Him. That's why I'm Wiccan.

Sooner or later all kids learn that Santa is either mom or dad. But while they are small, he fascinates them. Some people do think of God as an angry old man, but when was the last time anyone ever seen God and lived to tell about it. Yes we anger God by committing sin and His anger can only be appeased when we admit the sin and allow the blood of Jesus to cleanse us from it. If you are not a child of God, you do not have the Blood to cover your sins. Get ready, hear believe repent confess and be baptized for the remission of sins. ACTS chapter 2. God does not sit up in heaven waiting on us to mess up, He gives us the freedom of choice to make our own decisions and more times than not we make the wrong ones and that is not God's fault. Yes if we do not obey God's plan of salvation, not man's, we will be lost and separated from God for eternity. We can choose to obey or not.

Irony

You know, I won't even dignify that with an answer.

I will say, however, that I find it absolutely ridiculous that most of the questions on this site directed at Christians tend to be answered by a lot of Muslims and atheists. Why?
Let me also say that in posting questions such as yours that you are not sincerely searching for an answer, just for someone to agree with your point of view.

I totally agree with you. Frankly, I'd prefer Santa to exist.

Maybe Santa is really the Satan Clause...since Satan is the father of the lie! It is very hard to convince children who have been taught to believe the lie about Santa, the Easter bunny, the tooth fairy (and on and on) that you are telling the truth about God and Jesus! I am sure that Satan loves that!

John 8:44: "YOU are from YOUR father the Devil, and YOU wish to do the desires of YOUR father. That one was a manslayer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of [the lie]."

Santa never flooded the earth or sent plagues, so I'll stick with him.

Yes, I see the contradiction.. it's about as subtle as a handgrenade in a bowl of oatmeal.

No I don't. Santa is not real and I think it's stupid to lie to your kids about that stuff.
