I think when the fetus is viable outside the womb then it can be considered human with the same rights as the mother. At that point, even if the mother's life is in danger, doctors can at least attempt to save them both by delivering early. As long as the fetus is wholly dependent on the mother and incapable of surviving outside the womb, I don't consider its rights greater than the mother's.

I believe there is no magic point in time, no absolute number of weeks or months or seconds, that we can say the fetus suddenly morphs into a baby. This is a grey, slow, relative process. We cannot say for sure at what point every developing fetus develops certain features - while there are some similarities, every woman is different, and every fetus is different. This is why we should not legislate a particular gestational stage for everyone. Neither side likes to hear this, but it's a relative issue - abortion is not always wrong and the choice to abort is not always right. Both sides need to open their minds a little.

I believe that the fetus becomes a "baby" after 20 weeks. That is when there is a strong heart beat, lungs are being developed, feet, legs, arms, etc. It looks and develops into a baby at that point...when before it was simply a (with lack of a better term to describe it) reptile-looking fetus.
After 20 weeks is normally when doctors not only feel that the mother has a good chance of carrying it to full term, but they feel confident that if there was some major abnormality, or if the baby wasn't developing, etc. they would have discovered it by that point.
Also, after this point, it's considered to be POSSIBLE to save the baby if born. Before, it was non-viable, meaning if it was born at that moment, there would be absolutely NO way to save it. After 20 weeks, and every week after that, it has a better chance of survival outside the womb.

Christians believe that life begins at conception. My liberal coworker who is a member of women's rights organizations believe that life begins at birth and a fetus is nothing more that a blob of cells. The question is, when do a person become human.
For me, if a am pregnant, I have a human growing inside at the moment of conception. If someone murdered me and the fetus died also, I want them charged with double murder. Because of the liberals, that won't happen in most states.
Frankly, I don't trust anything that has a profit attracted. I think that both liberals and conservatives should stay out of this private matter. It is the woman who is pregnant that should decide what is growing inside of her. The debate still lingers. That means that neither side has provided conclusive evidence one way or the other. Since there is inconclusive evidence, the decision should lie with the parents of the unborn in question.
These organization know that the public is not that bright.

God has made some amazing things! And he is really the only one who should answer these Q's. As much as humans want to know everything - it's not possible. You'll be getting so many different people's points of views here. So I'll share mine. A baby is a human when it's conceived, but not a complete one. I think that they'll have to answer for killing them, like they would after killing any other person. They are definitely humans before they're born. And I think no political party is completely right on target.

The kid's anxious to get to that titty.
But, seriously, it doesn't always take 9 months.
Therefore it must be mostly developed before that time.
Is a person born w/o arms, legs, or all his parts not human? Does someone have the right to kill him because he's not complete?
Life is life all along the way.

I think around 6 months it's widely (at least, more widely than anything else) considered to be a viable human being.
