They don't have them where I live so I don't know anything about them except that they sell coffee.

I like hanging out at book stores and drinking coffee while checking out something to read.

Starbucks used to mean corporate domination and insensitivity; the McDonaldization of coffee.

Then I found myself in a very bad situation, and I needed a job fast. Starbucks hired me as a barista. I actually make more at Starbucks than I would at an administrative position in my area (Michigan--terrible economy). I receive tips and benefits for part time work and the job isn't too hard. Starbucks emphasizes corporate responsibility and encourages partners (employees) to do community service. Starbucks sincerely takes care of their customers and employees. My mind has been totally changed about them. They even care about educating customers and partners about coffee. Profitability is the LAST important item on their corporate goals, after environmentalism, social responsibility, etc.

A seemingly good idea that has gotten way out of hand in terms of commercialism. I know that the place is extremely popular, but you know things are getting ridiculous when you have 4 Starbucks within a half-mile radius.

Newest examples:

Shopping center: Inside Target, inside Barnes & Noble, solo store within shopping center, brand new drive thru store 1/2 a block from the shopping center. Whatttttt???

We need an In-n-Out, not a Starbucks!

hate it! hate it! hate it!

Starbucks charges too much from its costumers, but pays too less to the coffeegrowers! Moreover they use milk which was produced with the help of artificial hormones!

The chain is ruining the market for small independent coffeeshops.

A mecca that I used to go to when I was tired, or stressed at school...A fun place to share cheesecake and a caramel machiatto with my best friends. I love that place...it makes me poorer, but at least it makes me smile!
