When my son (who's 8 months) get up at 4am, I feed him, change his pamper and rock him to sleep.. the thing is that you have to keep all the lights off and TV off, that way it's easy for him to go back to sleep

Well, sometimes putting him down to sleep a little later works, and have a late supper helps. Though sometimes, like my son, there is nothing in the world that could change it. My son wakes every morning at 5:30 a.m., and turns the TV to channel 9 for Sesame Street and then wakes me to get him "some eat" and a cup of Elmo juice. Just to point out that this could be a permanent routine for the young one. My son has done this for two years, he is now 3.

The very best thing is to use the lav & chammomile baby bath and lotion b4 bed, put baby cereal in bottle and have another bottle handy comfy p.j's(no tags in them) and if he's not in the bed with you feeling your body heat he should be. I have a 9 month old and she wakes up @ 3 and 5, it's natural. But do all these things to ensure the baby is comfortable and he's probably wet around 4 so change him and put powder on his butt(again 4 comfort) and don't put him to sleep until around 1. or 11. Good luck & relax.

Ask his parents what time he normally falls asleep at home and what the routine is before bedtime. Try to stick to his regular schedule as much as possible. At 9 months a baby is capable of going to sleep by themself. If you've done everything you can think of and he still wakes up, try asking his parents if it's alright to let him cry himself to sleep. Once the baby realizes it's bed time and you're not coming back they usually stay asleep....this might not happen smoothly the first couple times.

Plan B..staying up with him is not that bad of an idea either....he probably misses his parents and is lost without them. can you blame him?

Sorry... You should just deal with it. You are doing your brother/sister a favor and watching thier child. Let them be the one to try to change his habits, you won't be able to change it overnight. Get up with him around 4 and watch some sportscenter or some infomercials. It really isn't that bad. I've got a 6 month old and I've learned to deal with it. Have fun is the bottom line. Children are facinating especially as infants. If you don't already have one yourself maybe you could realize that you don't want one just yet or maybe the opposite. Enjoy!!!

Sorry, you're stuck.

Babies at this age often wake up at strange times, especially if they are in a new place, but also because of the physical and brain developmental changes that are happening so fast. Both are disruptive of sleep patterns.

Nothing you do will prevent it, not giving more food or putting to sleep later.(We've tried it all) My 9 mo. son wakes up EVERY morning between 4 and 5.

If its for one night - just deal with it. You cant make changes to the babies schedule in one day.

The baby will also be curious about the change in his schedule since you arent his normal caregiver and is likely to wake up more than usual

use a binky or a bottle of formila, keep the lights low and be quite, You dont need to change the diaper till normal wakeup time unless poopy. hold child close to you or lie next to them. Love and care and DONT get mad. its not the babys falt they dont know.

Try to not put them to sleep too early and make sure they eat before going to bed, a litle oatmeal to fill them up more helps too.
