Are we talking playful biting or aggression? Playful biting, the best thing to do is to pull your arm away and put a toy in it's mouth. Keep your arms folded across your chest, not allowing room for the biting, walk away if you need to until the dog calms down. repeat this every time, the dog will learn that biting is not acceptable behavior. Aggressive biting, release the jaw by grasping the mouth in the back, by the jaw. The dog will loosen it's grip and you can remove your arm.

First off don't approach a dog that is being agressive unless you have somethin between you as a buffer, anything will do like a coat or tennis racket just incase it bites you have something in the way and if it is biting and not letting go I would jab the sensitve areas like the eyes or nose that should be enough to make him let go unless it is a fighting pit and then you would have to use a breaking stick between the teeth.

If it is your dog/puppy grab by the scruff of the neck, say no in a loud voice. If its a stray are you dumb, never go up to a dog you do not know. Do not pul your arm away that will make it bite harder. hold on to the back of it neck or collar and shout break or down.

Put your two fingers at the very back of her jaws, where the flesh is. Dogs hate the feeling of not being able to close their mouth if needed, so they will let go.
