Not easy at all.
Honestly, the load of nonesense that people are spitting out here without actually knowing what they're talking about, it's horrendous!

Quite simply, it goes as following:
anyone from the EU 9setting aside the newly joined members) can come and work here.

Like anyone else that comes to the UK, they get NO SUPPORT, no funding and are entiitled to NOTHING , untill they have lived here (paying taxes, obviously) for several YEARS.
This is due to the fact that eligibility for public resources in the UK is based upon residency.

Moving on.
Anyone who does not fall into that category, CANNOT come and stay, unless they qualify under very strict criteria:
Either they're from the commonwealth, and then they can come for 2 years AND THEN HAVE TO GO BACK

or
they set up a business (anyone got 200,000 pounds to spare?), employing AT LEAST TWO local residents (for any and all bitching about foreign labour stealing employment).

or
they come under Highly Skilled qualification schemes (and developed countries are yearning for this sort of labour, because they put zero into them and get loads of taxes)

or
through a visa set by an employer who has to prove that no one else was able to do the job

or
through family binding, relevant only to minors and spouses.

Anyone else: Muslims, Christians, Jews, doesn't matter - can't come and stay, not to mention a bunch of black listed countries where obtaining even a visitor visa is difficult because of the suspicion they might stay and work.

Whenever you enter the country an immigration officer intervies you, and should he become suspicious - he can refuse entry, sending the person back on the plane home.

So answering your question, it is not easy at all.
Yes, this country has its problems, but the economy is in a great state (certainly compared to Germany and France).
Immigration is not a bad thing for a country - Canada is one of the fastest growing western economies mainly due to its continous policy of attracting skilled population.

Blair sold britain to islam for a few votes.
Immigration is not difficult, most of them are invited.
Remeber dimwit david blunkett agreeing to take an immediate 1200 asylum seekers from the french in exchange for closure of the sangatte centre.Aswell as an undisclosed amount every week forever.
yeah, well the british public are calmed. No longer are the french govt allowing with a nod and a wink , security guards at sangatte to turn a blind eye to nightly escapes to britain.
Now we just let in twice as many and give them LEGAL status.
That clever mr blunkett.
The blair govt must think we all zip up the back

edit:jollywood...perrrlease...we can all quote from whatever resources favour our argument..Im afraid youre right some ppl really dont know what they are talking about.the economy is not in good shape.youre only kidding yourself..we all live here and see whats around us.wake up

It may as well be as easy as you like because only those genuinely destitute will be wanting to come here shortly because the job's well and truly bankrupted and buggered.
So by their actions of wanting to come in the first place it will be clear they are genuinely in great need of sanctuary.
Why do you think all these germans and russians and chinese etc. are buying-up everything here ? Its because all the (cheap) labour has and is moving here at a great rate of speed ( com'on in, make yourself at home, have a cigar, relax ) and at their own expense.
The ' clever money ' is going to set them on grafting for far less than the Brit. worker ever demanded. They'll make the profits that deluded our lot for so long and I suppose the gov.co.uk. ltd. will be shouting how clever they are......whats new...they've sold all the family silver, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, TVR, Water, Gas, MG etc. etc.
The bit that really gets me is when they make an almighty blunder of massive proportions- he says " we are the first to admit we've made a big mistake- but we have learned from our mistakes "
Just ONE of the many mistakes they've made would result in a corporate trial in the ' real ' world.
One thing that should happen, those that made this happen should be made to live here among it with their families. Hoping I'm Wrong...jd.

If your from a Muslim country, and is indolent, ignorant, intolerant, with a veiled wife beside you, and 10 kids, pretty easy I would say.

Jollywood is forgetting the fact that these people come to the UK legit. on a visa, but then outstay their visas and refuse to leave or be deported on the grounds of "human rights" that they will be prosecuted and tortured in their home country... There are abut 85,000 false asylum seekers still living in the UK, and that's just an estimate. the department has no idea exactly how many there are in the UK and they don't even know where most of them are living. When you don't have an idea who's in your own country, this is very, very bad for national security.

Jollywood is absolutely correct - giving her the thumbs down strongly suggests that either you haven't a clue what you're talking about or you can't face the facts.

Beating immigration isn't easy - those who manage it go to enormous efforts and often expense to achieve this. Yeah, the system could be better in places but none of these answers identify what those places are and what can practically be done to improve things.

It's perfectly possible to have many reasonable opinions on immigration - how about discussing the facts instead of blowing off steam in futile ranting ?

Mark J seems to have swallowed his Daily Mail. The idea that indolent people would have the required get-up-and-go to move to another country sounds unlikely.
It's not as tough as some countries, and there are always going to be example cases of some people that came in, that shouldn't (not a huge problem)- and others where people were turned away, but shouldn't (could be a bigger problem if asylum seekers are sent back to where they were persecuted).
