I can't stop eating macaroni cheese at the moment, which is really not good as I have IBS and am really suffering from eating so much pasta and cheese, and I am also putting on weight because of it. What can I eat as an alternative that will satisfy my appetite?

It is the winter, worse time of year for our hips and bellies.
I crave this sort of food badly too. Agree with Jacket Potatoes, and try and fill up on salad and veg with your dinners, try and liven up with a nice sauce. Hope you feel betterxx

If you look through the archives, you'll be able to find recipes for mac and cheese. The pasta part is easy - Tinkyada pasta www.tinkyada.com, which is widely available. It's made from rice and is quite good.

I hope you start feeling better soon.

Try making a yogurt cheese by straining yogurt through a cheese cloth lined strainer over a bowl. After a few days put the cheese in a container. You can mix in garlic, peppers or other flavorings at this point if desired. Spread this on whole wheat crackers.

My flatmate suffers from IBS too and swears by drinking lots of milk. She always craves stodgy food cos her stomach feels empty even though it's just the IBS giving her cramps, but she does find that drinking milk helps.
