The top outside of my left foot hurts, more so when I run but also have a sharp pain when standing and then it goes away. It's not constant more off and on. Except on when running which I’ve temporally stopped doing. The pain is right by my ankle and only in my left foot.

If you have a general practitioner, I would strongly recommend you go to see him or her. You may be referred to a podiatrist, who would be the best kind of doctor to diagnose this sort of problem. There are a lot of things that could be causing this.
