Is it just me or does it seem like a majority not all of the christians on here think everyone who says somehting negative about jesus or god are aethist.

some may be apt to believe that atheism is the absence of God. Since Christianity only recognized one god (Jesus) they believe that the absence of Jesus equates to atheism. This is of course ignorant the the idea the God is the same god through out Judaism, Islam and Christianity, the only difference being they each follow in the teachings of a different Prophet or Messiah.
There is also the idea of god being a perfect being, thus in any way questioning his absolute divinity is a rejection, thus atheism.
This ideology of course reject the fact that different sects of Christianity have different values, thus disagree with somebody may not mean that you reject the word of God, rather have been exposed to a different opinion.
There is also the wonderful world of agnostic. The religious "fence sitters" so to speak, although they will not openly admit to following in a religion, they will also claim that there is mostly likely a higher power.
Regardless, the point I find most bothersome, is how judgment is thrown about so readily under a Christian guise. From what I remember of my catholic upbringing the only one capable of passing judgment is god. Wouldn't emulating him be similar to taking his name in vain?

I don't think that someone who says something negative about Jesus or God is an atheist. I'm a christian(mormon) I think that person questions christianity or what is being taught as christianity. I believe that person just has questions to which he has not found the answers to.

That is one of the major problems of most Christians - intolerance.
Jesus was tolerant and accepting... but did not succumb to corruption or temptation. There are those Christians who are accepting, tolerant, willing to have open dialog and respectful exchange of ideas.
Many people on this site, form both sides, are only here to ridicule others who do not believe as they do. We can only hope (and pray) that those that are here for honest dialog will have the patience to weed through the rest and see each others posts.

Well, just think about what you just said. Only an absolute fool would say something negative about Jesus and God and then claim to believe in them. You wanna reason that one out a little.

Because Jesus said that He is the Way, the Truth and the Light, and no one comes unto the father except by Him.
If you mock Jesus or say there is no God, I don't condemn you, the Bible condemns you.

Why speak ill of our Lord and Saviour? Some take the truth of God too lightly....we care enough to show them Jesus is the only way, truth and life- if we did not care we would not even bother responding....BUT if someone is responding with hate, that is wrong.

Yeah pretty much anyone who is a bible thumping maniac is going to hell. Maybe if you dont believe in santa claus you are going to hell too?
Just listening to them makes me want to scream. How can people that claim to be christians be so judgmental? I find pride in the fact that im a good person and dont waltz around condemming others bc they arent just like me. Not like it bothers me that they condemn me to hell bc if they are simple minded enough to believe all of that well then they are obviously no threat to me.

no we just get fed up with having to defend our beliefs to you and others who think they have the monopoly on being assholes. I could care less if you are an Atheist or not, thats your problem. Just leave us alone, easy enough. If you don't like our responses stop talking!
