This guy thinks servicemembers are simple minded. I wonder how many servicemembers he knows and/or how much time he spends around military operations.

It is not a fact Capu. Cite a source.
I joined the Army in 2003 and it has been my experience that the military echoes society. In fact many people in the military seem to have alot more common sense then civilians.

He knows none, nor has he ever served a day in the military. Typical freeloader.

I was the valedictorian of my High School class. I attended university on an academic scholarship and was admitted to the Honors Program. I enlisted in the Army after graduation. I'm not a simpleton, and neither are the nearly 300 soldiers in my Company. Most have at least some college, and those that were academically unable to gain entrance to a university were at least smart enough to find a good paying job with benefits directly out of high school rather than earning minimum wage at the local 7-11.

The military is an excellent sampling of society as a whole. They come from all walks of life and all backgrounds. When I joined after high school, I was in the top 10% of my class from a middle-class conservative household. I served with poor farmer's sons from Iowa and a lawyer's son from Florida. Of course, that was 20 years ago. Many view current anti-war rhetoric as being anti-troops, but nothing is further from the truth.
War is like any other government program. People love to talk about it in theory. Just do not bother them with the details.
It is not their head being shot off; it is the head of some kid from South Central Los Angeles whose name they will never know. It is not their dead body being dragged through the streets of some Third World stink hole they had never heard of when they enlisted; it is the dead body of some coal miner’s son from West Virginia whose name they will never know.
It's really easy to sit back in the comfort of your home and throw stones at those protecting your comfortable home.

My experience thus far with the military. There may not be a lot of simple minded people, but there are alot of closed minded people. Alot of there views will contradict eachother.
As far as technical experts, are among the best theres alot of military enlisted. That are well educated in there jobs as well as on paper.
As for me I joined cause I wouldnt have made it in college, didnt have the money or the grades to go. It did me good wasnt for me but like I said it did me good.
Have heard of people who got in trouble with the law before, and joined up in order to stay out of jail. I wouldnt say that this is the majority but its definatly a good percentage of the military. Around maybe 5-10% and thats it.

Probably has never had the privelege of meeting the average volunteer soldier/airman/marine. Stats show that the average recruit is more educated/intelligent than the average citizen.

I would say that he met some military member, maybe more, and considered them to be simple minded.
That generalization then turned to all member associated with that group.
