When you "practice what you preach".. you are doing the things that you advise others to do also. To "turn the other cheek" is to show compassion for someone who is trying to hurt you, physically or mentally. It's relative to being slapped and instead of reacting violently, you offer the other cheek to be slapped if you feel that's a better way to handle the situation.
For "father, help him" to come into play; requires someone who preaches defending ones self (physically or mentally), but in reality they retreat.. and "offer the other cheek"; thereby indicating someone who must be confused, and needs help from a higher source.... get it?

Your question is a little fuzzy -
The critique against most Christians is that we do not practice what we preach. THe Gospel message is one of pacifism, yet the Religious Right is very supportive of the current conflicts in Iraq and Afganistan. Assuming we accept the overall premise of the war - retaliation against 9/11 attacks, the where is the "turn the other check" teaching of Christ? Equally, on personal levels the same can be applied to any number of scenerios when our human/American response is for retributive justice as opposed to a forgiveness as found in the Scriptures.
Christians can be a rather un-forgiving group.

Practice what you preach means to do what you are believing- as the Bible says "Be doers of the word and not just hearers who delude themselves" James 1:22
-Turning the other cheek means to not take revenge, but to give them your other cheek, if one slaps you- ( it is an example of not creating anger and bitterness in your heart and wanting revenge)
Someone who does not practice what they preach is called a hypocrite.

It's part of a song lyric from the Black Eyed Peas. The song is called "Where is the Love"
"People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek
Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)"
