What do you mean forgets simple things?
Maybe she just isn't interested in the same things she was when she was younger. Maybe her body is aching a little here and there and the same activities she's done her entire life are painful? I'm just speculating, you were very vague on your question.
Is she having trouble seeing things? My old dog used to start licking at the top edge of his water bowl and work his way down the side until he found the water. He couldn't see it.
The last couple years I could get all the way into the house and wake him up before he knew I was there. Only if I tip-toed though. He couldn't hear me anymore, but he could feel the vibrations on the floor.
It may be time to make some adjustments in your routine and playtime to accomodate having a senior citizen in your home.

Age does different things to different people just like dogs. Of course she can be getting senile. 11 years is getting up there. Try to give her some toys to stimulate her mind exercise it back into shape.

Could be. My dog was 14 years when I had to put her down. She got to the point where she ran into walls and sometimes seemed like she didn't recognize me all the time but I think that was just cuz her sight was bad. She'd smell me and realize it wass me. She lost control of her bladder and wouldn't ask to go outside until she could barley control herself. Or she'd forget to ask and just go. She was a good dog though...I miss her.
Start thinking about when is a good time you can let her go. She may only have a couple years or less left...cherish your time.
I cooked my dog chicken the night before I put her down cuz she loved it so much =)

yes, of course she is. If you go by dog years, I guess she would be 77. We all forget it's part of getting older. Just be kind to her, if you've had her for 11 yrs, I'm sure she have given you lots of pleasure.

Sounds like your dog may have the beginnings of CDS. If that is the case, you might want to check the following resources to see what can be done to slow the process.

She could be. It doesn't mean she ready to be put to sleep.
