Livin' la vida tranquila in "The OC"... and loving it!
On the plus side, there's the EXCELLENT weather. Some might even call it boring, since (like Randy Newman sings) it's sunny all the time (about 330 days per year or more). Example: On Christmas Day, all the kids on my street will be outside playing with their new toys, bikes, roller blades, etc. because it will be about 65 degrees and sunny. Guaranteed.
And the things to do! Plenty of places for sports, shopping, theater, and entertainment up the Wazoo! I live 8 miles from Disneyland, and we go at least twice per month (we have passes). In the winter, you can ski in the local mountains. In the summer, you can hang out at the beach. In the spring, you can do both (in the same day, if you want).
Did I mention the great weather? We have dinner on the patio at least 150 times per year.
On the down side: The traffic. Ugh. I'm fortunate now because I work about a mile from my home. But my wife spends about 1-3 hours on the road each way, commuting to West LA from OC.
The smog: Not as bad as it used to be, but can still be bad. Some areas are worse than others, which is another reason we moved to OC.
Other than that, it's all good...

Simi Valley... I love living in Simi Valley, I hate having to commute to Los Angeles (I work at UCLA). I absolutely LOATHE Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. Simi is still nice though but it gets way too hot in the summer and too windy and hot in the fall. I'd have to say overall that I hate it. The pollution, the over population, the people are fast-paced and rude...
For a place with so many people, a person could still be very isolated here....

I live in the Westlake Area of LA right next to McAuthur Park... In all honesty love the view from my apartment but hate all the stuff that goes on below. I really want to move.

I miss it! I moved to Colorado 2 years ago, and it has not been above freezing here in two weeks.
Cali was my Home (San Diego) for 26 years. I miss the warm weather, the beaches, the mountains, the party scene, the 24 hour fast food restaurants, my friends and my family.
