You have to consider a number of factors:
1) It has to be strong enough not to break while sweeping (or you'll get the stuff all over your finger)
2) It can't be too rigid. If it can't adapt to the form of your a.. you won't clean much. If it's too rigid it might also break (see 1)
3) It can't be too smooth because then you'll be smearing the S.... all over your A.. Try using some leaf that has tricomes (little hairs) or whose epithelium is somewhat uneven (like a very fine sandpaper).
5) Try to find a leaf big enogh to keep your fingers protected
4) obviously, don't use plants with urticant hairs.
It is my experience that everywhere i've camped, i've found something that meets the requirements.
Good luck

Large leaves called doc leaves usually found near poison ivy believe it or not as they are an antidote to the poison ivy too. Indians used them when found usually in damp shade areas. Very large leaves about up to 12" or more wide. I do not know the botanical name but the nickname is doc leaf.

If you live near a swamp, the reed type stuff that floats on there used to be used for that purpose

I look for dead leaves that haven't yet become crumbly. Dry enough to be absorbent but not dry enough to break. Often I find it best to use my sock and then trudge on with only one sock.

Magazine leaves. If you don't have those then cattails. Pine needles if you're really patient, but they leave your butt smelling fresh.
