Dodge makes a good truck, but they do have pretty shitty transmissions, my dad bought a new dodge 1500 in 2001 and a year later it needed a new tranny. if it's a good price then i would still buy it.

Don't worry its a Dodge, my family has owned over 10 of them. One with 350,000 miles and no troubles just batteries, tires, and oil changes. Currently have a 2000 with 183,000 on it and still no problems or worries. Our first born son will be named Dodge or Hemi thats how much we love them. I met my husband on a blind date because I drove a Dodge truck. One thing not to ever do is change the transmission oil, add to but don't drain and refill. My dad had that done once and they had to put 3 trans in the truck in a few months before he traded it off. I have heard stories of others doing the same thing and having the same problem. Like the old saying if it ain't broke don't fix it. Buy Dodge you won't be disappointed. Great gas mileage too!!!

I bought a Dakota new in 1986. I still have it. It has 340,000 miles on it. All this proves though, is if you get a good vehicle to start with, and take good care of it, it may last forever. On the other hand, if you get a lemon(all makers make one) or one that has been abused or not well maintained, it won't be any good at all.
In matters such as these you must trust your own judgment, and if there are any doubts, go another route. You may make a mistake, but the next time you will know better.
