The complications of chicken pox are the same at all ages. They include encephalitis, cerebellitis with ataxia, Guillain Barre polyneuritis (flaccid paralysis), bronchopneumonia.

I don't know if adults can even get the chicken pox. It usually shows up as shingles. .... same virus. I don't know that it affects males any differently than females. You can get an immunization against it now, too. (You may be thinking of mumps in men. That can cause sterilization.)

They can die because chicken pox can be worse for older people.

one off te top of my head is death. yeah it can be fatal at that age. see a doc about it.
