Discover. It pays you back 1% on all purchases and 5% on certain key ones like gas, food, etc.

While it may be true that no millionaire made his money soley on 1% discover bonus, if you have spending discipline, then this is a nice reward. I don't buy anything on credit card that I can't afford to pay the bill in cash with and have never made a late payment in my life. My credit score is immaculate. I say take advantage of oppurtunities afforded to you if you are responsible enough to handle your money. I'm sorry that you weren't.

Question is : Do you have a credit history?

If you do not have a credit history, then are a couple of alternatives.

1. Get a Citi Platinum Select Master Card - they will approve people with no credit history (not bad credit).

2. Get a secured credit card - which reports to the three credit bureaus. This will get you started on building your credit.

If this is your first card you may need to start with a secured credit card to start building your credit profile.

Here is some additional info. Hope this helps.

NONE!!! Continue to pay cash for everything. Use your check card when you need to use plastic (on line, etc). You will spend 10-20% more using plastic than using cash.

We are digging out of HUGE credit card debt and it would have been easier to save money for purchases instead of digging out of the mess.
