try to be as polite and nice as possible...the girls just worried she'll lose her dad, i know how it can feel to lose your daddy...its the worse feeling in the world, try and sympathise with her and make her feel involved you'll be alot happier too.

This is hard. I had a nice boyfriend but he had a step daughter. she did everything she could to either have us argue with the idea of us breaking up. she was 2 faced, would lie on me in the neighborhood, etc. please be careful. she is not going to change. if anything she is going to step up her game cause now she is jealous of the new baby. She is going to try to influence the father like my ex did. the ex stepdaughter would influence the father to leave me out of gatherings, etc. i would let her know in no uncertain terms that you are the adult and she better respect you and your house. If there is a listening ear with your husband, let him know what she does if she does or says anything. and one thing you should remember, you are the competition so dont get all sentmental thinking that this step daughter will ever be your friend (right now) and let your guard down. I did and the nasty attitude thing (that used to pee on herself but didnt want to take a bath) stabbed me right in the back. even encouraging her father to see other women. sigh

Grow up. That's a good idea. She fears losing her dad and apparently you're trying to advocate him leaving his daughter in the dust, so maybe her fears are founded? How would you feel is some woman tried to get between your dad and you? I don't care how old you are. Nobody wants to lose their parent. I agree with Becca. Try to involve her in the event of having a baby. Try and make her feel like a part of the family. She'll most likely start singing a different tune if she feels involved instead of shunned.

She sounds a little too old to be acting like that. You need to take your power back and demand she treat you with respect. Don't be afraid to stand up to her..she needs to be put in her place. People only act like that if they think they can get away with it. And if the ex is awful as well, act like you don't care and continue to conduct yourself with grace and dignity.

SO I guess to summarize, don't put up with any BS but make sure you don't respond in kind either.

Stop being nice, don't be a doormat. Give them their space. You don't deserve to be treated that way.
