Do YOU think you can draw close to God? Do you think you can be his friend? I do!!! What about you?

I agree that you can draw close to him.. The bible says...“Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you.” (James 4:8)
“He is not far off from each one of us.” (Acts 17:27; 1 Chronicles 28:9)
Some people don't know how to draw close to Jehovah, so I was curious. One important reason why we should pray to Jehovah is that he invites us to do so. His Word encourages us: “Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6, 7) Surely we would not want to ignore such a kind provision made for us by the Supreme Ruler of the universe! Then we have to take in knowledge about him. “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sesent forth, Jesus Christ.” (John 17:3)

The Bible tells us we can. It says for us to draw close (make the first move) and then God will draw close to us

James 4:8: " Draw close to God, and he will draw close to YOU. Cleanse YOUR hands, YOU sinners, and purify YOUR hearts, YOU indecisive ones."

That Scripture also mentions that we should purify our heart and quit being wishy washy...we need to make a stand for God and quit sitting on the fence. We either serve God whole souled, or we serve Satan.

James 4:4: " Adulteresses, do YOU not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of God"

Isaiah 55:6 & 7: "Search for Jehovah, YOU people, while he may be found. Call to him while he proves to be near. 7 Let the wicked man leave his way, and the harmful man his thoughts; and let him return to Jehovah, who will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for he will forgive in a large way.

Again we are told to take action...search, leave our bad ways and thoughts, and return...then God will act.

James 2:22-24: "You behold that [his] faith worked along with his works and by [his] works [his] faith was perfected, 23 and the scripture was fulfilled which says: “Abraham put faith in Jehovah, and it was counted to him as righteousness,” and he came to be called “Jehovah’s friend.”
24 "YOU see that a man is to be declared righteous by works, and not by faith alone."

Hebrews 11:6: "Moreover, without faith it is impossible to please [him] well, for he that approaches God must believe that he is and that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him."

So, yes I most definitely do believe that it is possible to become God's friend, but we see from the Scriptures that we must show by our actions that we truly want to please God and to be HIS friend.

Knowing that Almighty God has a personal name can be an important step in getting to know Him as a loving Father and a real person!

It's not exactly wrong to call the Almighty by the impersonal "God", just as it's not wrong to call one's offspring "Child". If we want a familiar and close relationship, however, it makes sense to use the personal name of someone we love. The Scriptures encourage us to use God's personal name.

The Hebrew name “Yahweh” (or “Yehowah”) does seem to accurately pronounce the divine name. Just as the Hebrew name “Yeshua” (or “Yehoshua”) is translated into “Jesus” in English, the Hebrew name “Yahweh” is translated into “Jehovah” in English.

The important thing is to use God’s personal name in whatever language you speak, rather than insisting upon the impersonal! The name “Yahweh” is certainly preferable to the non-name “God” or “Lord”, especially if you speak Hebrew. If you speak English, feel free to use the name "Jehovah".

(Psalms 83:18) That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth

(John 17:26) [Jesus said] I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them

Praise The Lord Saint! Yes I feel I can drw closer to God through prayer and his unchanging word. I try to live my life as a praise unto him and give him glory in everything I do. Building a relationship with God is the most important thing in my life, next to being a wife and a mother and I even try giving him glory when doing that.

Draw close to God and he will draw close to you. It is written. Who can argue with the word of God?
