IM going to bangkok for 3 days on a business trip. My meeting will be on the saturday, and I will have time at hand on Friday- day and night, saturday- evening and sunday forenoon. I want to visit a few places in bangkok and around and also do some shopping. I know Robinson's is a good place to shop at. Could someone suggest me where else to go and what to see there. Also suggest me some good night spots and places to visit during the day where I could have some thai food.

For daytime action- You can take a daytime tour of all the Buddhist temples via taxi. Two of the ones worth visiting are Wat Pho the reclining Buddah. Within a block of this temple people will tell you the temple is closed so they can send you on an alternative excursion in which they will receive a generous commision.

The Grand Palace- Wearing shorts is forbidden in this temple you can rent clothes for the day at the front gate.

A river tour of the canal is also a good idea.

Nightlife- Depending on what your looking for there are many places to go.

Khosan road- a hippy backpacker place. Get a seat on the patio and enjoy the parade of freaks.

Nana Plaza- Gogo pick up bars. Feel like a kid in a candy store again.

Patpong- Rip off Gogo pick up place.

Soi Cowboy- Similar to Nana plaza.

Please visit our official TAT website, you can find more related info there (TAT = Tourism Authority of Thailand) and these are some from me:
1. It's a must to visit the Grand Palace and some historic Buddhist temples like Wat Pra Kaew, Wat Pho, Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn), or the National Museum next to Thammasat University. These places're situated around Sanam Luang (Phra Main Ground),
2. Some great department stores like Siam Paragon (opposite the Siam Square), Central World Plaza (on Rajprasong Road), The Emporium (on Sukhumvit Road) - you can find Thai food especially at Siam Paragon, for the others, please inquire them,
3. A lot of good restaurants, bars, etc on both sides of Khoasan Road (get off at Kokwua Junction on Rajdamnoen Avenue), ask some tourists there where to go into the area, it's not far from the Ave. You can enjoy nightlife there, I'm sorry I won't recommend Patpong, it's notorious for some reasons.
Welcome and enjoy your stay and visits.

Shopping spree! Everything's so cheap and worth the buy.
Another, go to Phuket beach because it's one of the best.
And third, go to Pat Pong to taste their native food and watch vagina exhibitions.
