I live near PortChester. Its not so bad. Depends what part you are in. They have recently built a few new shopping centers and cleaned it up a bit. I like it there. The majority of people living there are hispanic. Its in Westchester County so it can be expensive... depends what you have. I think its in a perfect spot... near 287 & 95 bordering NY & CT.

It's an ok place to live, less expensive than other metro NY suburbs...check the crime rates on a reputable website - also you can check the cost of living comparison from your current city to Port Chester.

I haven't been there in a few years but I remember parts of town were a little grungy. It's very blue collar and has a high population of people who are Hispanic. It's definitely not as affluent as the surrounding towns which are filled with millionaires. It's nice because it's not too far from NYC. Driving from there isn't that difficult and you can always take the train (Metro North)
