Be careful of overprocessing your hair... sometimes a change has to grow on you..
First do a deep conditioner and then put some lowlights (darker strands) to help blend it to a darker color .
If you are doing this yourself..make sure you use a color that is in the same color family (golden, neutral, ashy etc.) if you want it more golden or reddish or need to tone down brassiness try adding a capful or two of what you want to swing towards to, the mixture ...

Oh yeah... use a deposit only for this... much gentler on the hair and will fade in about 8 -12 washings, if you like it you can go for a more permanent solution

If you are doing this yourself you can get a couple of caps to pull hair through and start with pulling a small amount through ..if you like the result and want to see more darkness (depth) repeat the step and pull more through each hole for a "chunkier" look...

If you can afford it... go to a salon that specializes in color.. 100.00 is never too much to spend on your hair when your self esteem is at stake...

if you were looking for a change, i'd suggest maybe a darker brown, reddish-brown or, if it's light enough, you could probably try just about anything - if you still hate it, then go back to black.

I would keep it for a few days and see if you get used to it first!!! Then if you still don't like it, maybe try a darker chocolate brown.
