My dentist sells them, but when asked flat out of they were better then regular toothbrushes he wouldn't answer the question. What do you people think? Are they worth the price?

If you are a healthy adult w/ no disabilities or gum problems, there's no explicit reason to buy a sonic toothbrush.

That said, even tho' i fall into the above category, i use one because i FEEL it works better.

Sonicare brushes are (oddly) gentler (you can't scrub too hard or it shuts down!), more efficient, more effective than regular and other electric brushes.
They are the only electric brush that I sell to my patients. they are about $140 at Walmart or Target and should be avail at a dentist's office for around $90.

If you don't have 100 bucks to spare, then don't bother. if you can spare it, i think you'll be pleased w/ the results.

if yo'ud like to see the RESEARCH behind their claims, call 1 800 SONICARE and request copies; they'll be happy to send them to you, but they're written in "dental-ese" so if you don't have a research science background it may be confusing.

Suffice it to say i've done the homework and they are a superior brush for sure. However, if you don't need one, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Oh, and don't forget to floss. They are not a substitute for flosssing!!! (that is one point where the ads are a bit misleading...)

I have a sonic plaque away brush & my teeth & gums have never felt better & healthier. My teeth are also much white. Also with a reqular brush it is advised to brush for 3minutes but with a sonic brush only 1minute.
I know they are expensive but it's worth the cost of a brighter & cleaner smile!

There have been some studies that have shown that a regular toothbrush works as well, when you brush properly. I think that their benefits are questionable, at least.

Check with Consumer Reports, ect.

Well they're easier to use and they do make your teeth feel cleaner but I've heard they can wear down your enamel if you don't use them correctly. You can't apply too much pressure or use them too long or often.

They really get under the gum line-I think they are worth it.
