You're correct Jibba Jabba, Catholics can be Christians. The logical statement, and more acurate statement, would be some Catholics are Chrstians; some Christians are Catholice. But they do not equal each other.
This is true for any of the denominations. You could replace "Catholic" in this statement with any denomination such as Assembly of God; Baptist; Methodist; Presbyterian; etc. Going to a church is not what "saves you" or makes you a Christian. That only occurs when you accept Jesus the Christ into your life as your personal Savior.

Catholics are Christians. Catholics and protestants have some different beliefs, and their church services and government are different. However, both believe in Jesus as the Son of God. One answerer stated that Catholics were the first denomination since Protestants broke off from the Catholic church. This is not correct. There were many Christian groups BEFORE the formation of the Catholic church. These groups never became part of the Catholic church...therefore were not part of those who broke away. All that is very old history now...and not worth fighting over. More important to be united by our common beliefs than to be divided by our differences. There are many excellent references on church history...for those who wish to study this in detail.

The way Catholics pray to Mary/the Saints is not the same as the way they pray to God.
The way Catholics "pray" to Mary is closer to a way a good Christian woman would send prayers to her dead husband. Clearly her dead husband has absolutely no religious significance, but he has incredibly important personal significance.
Similarly, the Saints are important in a human way, not a religious way. The Saints are mainly important as examples to live by, and also in addition one can call on a saint to pray for them.
Think of what would happen in a good Presbyterian family where a family member gets into a car accident. Every single family member would pray for the individual. To take a further degree of distance, I'm sure many people pray for people in need much further away.
To Look at the Hail Mary:
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
The first 2 lines recognize Mary as someone who has received Grace, something which I think every denomination takes for granted.
The 3rd line says that she is blessed "amongst" women:
Quote:
2) We believe Mary should be worshipped AMOUNG women not ABOVE women.
The 4th line says Jesus is blessed, something I think all Christians can agree on.
The last 3 lines are a request for intercession, the request for her prayers. Yeah, every protestant denomination is against her/the Saints praying for another's sins, but it's not a particularly huge difference. Small enough that one could consider it simply a denominational difference.
The idea of challenging the Catholic Church on its non-Biblical beliefs is a bit silly, especially considering that basically every school of Christianity maintains a belief in Creatio ex Nihilo, which isn't quite supported by the Bible.
Hope this helps :)

Maybe the answer to that question lies in the fact that the Catholics do not believe in the finished work of salvation that Christ did on the cross and with his resurrection.
They believe that his work on the cross was not enough to give them salvation. They believe that you have to work your way into Heaven and they also believe that it is the prayers that the priests are paid to say for the dead that get them out of purgatory (tradition) and into Heaven. This takes the glory away from the Lord and puts in on man. The honor and glory goes to Jesus. He is the one who paid the price.
Eph 2:8-9God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the GOOD THINGS THAT YOU HAVE DONE, so that non of us can boast.

Actually, at some point in time Catholics were the ONLY Christians. I've never heard a RESPECTABLE Christian authority claim Catholics were not Christians. I emphasize RESPECTABLE. Obviously any shrill sect can claim they are the "real" Christians ... hey! didn't I just see a pig go across my window just now?

Catholics don't seem to be simply one other denomination. We don't seem to be only a church. We are the Church. Just because the dangerous angels rebelled towards God and Adam and Eve sinned, so the Protestants rebelled. The rationale why the ones rumors approximately Catholics exist is due to the fact that their pastor or church chief or minister informed them they usually accredited it. Why had been they informed to consider this heresy? Because the ones Satan influenced, pseudo Christians had been frightened that when you investigated the cosmetic of the Catholic Faith you could be influenced by way of the Holy Spirit to take recommendations. Did you realize that we've got a Sacrament for fitting a Solder for Christ? We name it Confirmation. Did you realize that Catholics acquire the indwelling of the Holy Spirit once they acquire the Sacrament of Baptism? Did you realize that we've got a sacrament for loss of life? It is referred to as Extreme Unction or the Last Rites. Did you realize that we've got the Sacrament of Transubstantiation? That is whilst Jesus on the Last Supper taught us the Rite of Holy Communion. In the yearly Almanac seem up whilst your church was once started by way of a person. Our Church was once started by way of God whilst He despatched His most effective Son to die for the sin of rejection dedicated by way of Adam and Eve. The Baptists and a few different denominations consider that "Once stored, continually stored." That isn't real. Believing such, denies unfastened will. There may be a Sacrament for fitting a Catholic Priest. Martin Luther and Henry VIII threw out or discarded such a lot once they made up our minds that God was once incorrect.

Catholics are Christian. It is just fun for other "Christians" to say they aren't. Considering the virtues Christians supposedly have I find it interesting that so many "Christians" HATE Catholics.

I agree, it makes people sound stupid. Catholics are Christians, Protestants(Baptists, Methodists, etc) are Christians, who broke off from the Catholic faith, thus making Catholics not just Christians, but the first Christian denomination!
