I got my first tattoo on my shoulder 2 years ago, I was hoping to get my mother's initials on my ankle, but my friend went last week and told me it hurt like hell. If this is true, where else should I get it? I dont really want it on my hip because my stomach isn't what I'd like it to be, and it can't be totally visible because I'm an office administrator. Any ideas?

get it on your ankle. especially if it is for your mother. don't you think that it is worth it to go thru a few minutes of pain for her? i'm sure you have caused her many pains in her life... i know i have caused my mom more pain and heartache than she deserved. go for the ankle. i really don't think it's that bad. i have a tattoo that covers the whole top of my foot.

Honey, the pain is only temporary.

The tattoo is forever.

I have never heard of anyone dying from the pain of a tattoo.

Yes, it will hurt, and yes, you might be uncomfortable for a little while...

The tattoo you're talking about sounds like it won't be too big, so it shouldn't take all that long to do.

Just remember to breathe, you'll get through it, and then you'll have a beautiful tattoo to show for it. :)

I can be a big baby, and I have a rather large tattoo on my rib cage.
I've seen grown men who couldn't handle getting a tattoo on their ribs.

They say women can take the pain better, so go prove them right!! :)

Good luck!

I have a tattoo on my ankle and I'm boney as hell and didn't think it was painful at all. I'm sure you'll be fine.

My 1st Tattoo was on my ankle and I didn't feel a thing. Everyone has a different pain tolerance.

Supposedly the "boney" areas are the most painful. I have tattoos both on and off those areas and I wasn't bothered by either.
