I have an appt. on the 15th...but they told me to ice it and take OTC anti-inflammatory meds till then. What works best for painful joints.

I would suggest 1-2 aspirin take as directed/needed since it doesn't effect your liver like other meds do

I recommed that whichever pain reliever that you use, get the gel caps. They work faster and longer then the regular tablets.
I use Advil gel caps personally, but I've used aleve too with similar results.
Everyone responds differently so just keep trying different ones until you find out what works for you (after waiting until a new dose of whatever medicine you last took of course). Good luck

There are several out there, Motrin (ibuprofen) Ketoprofen, Tylenol, Alleve and even Aspirin
I have found the best way to learn which one works the best for you is to buy the travel packets, they usually have a single dose.
Take them as directed but pay attention to which one actually controls your pain the best. That way you don't get stuck with an entire bottle of something that doesn't work. Good luck.

Ibuprofin (advil) 800 mg every 4-6 hours not to exceed 3200 mg or naproxen (aleve) 1-2 tablets every 8-12 hrs not to exceed 4 tabs in 24 hrs.

Ibuprophen does work, you could also try Aleve. Aleve does work very well too, I use it quite often when my back hurts because of arthritis and a disk problem.

Aleve / naproxen sodium will help with the inflammation. I have found it to work better than anything else.

Activ On. believe it or not, that **** actually works. Their commercials are annoying as hell, but the stuff works.
