Rub your hands on the back of a stainless steel spoon!
One household tip for removing odors from fish, onions, or garlic from your hands is to rub your hands across the blade of a stainless steel knife. In fact, you can even buy stainless steel 'soaps', which are just hunks of stainless steel that are about the same shape and size as a bar of normal soap. Does stainless steel remove odors? If so, how does it work?
There isn't a lot of hard scientific data (that I have seen anyway) concerning stainless steel odor eaters. However, you can test this kitchen wisdom yourself, using your nose to take data. Better yet, get someone else to smell your fingers, since your own sniffer will have odor molecules inside it already from exposure to the food.
My experience has been that the knife trick works, but only up to a point. If you have been working with onions, garlic, or fish long enough for their 'perfume' to be absorbed into your skin, the best you can do is to diminish the scent with the steel.

When I wash my hands after chopping garlic or onion, I always get my hands soapy and rub them on the inside of my kitchen sink - stainless steel will take the smell away. Don't ask me why, but it defintely works! They sell these little pieces of stainless steel - looks like a small bar of soap - that is used for that exact puropose. You can also use any utencil that's stainless steel - like a spoon. It definitely works!

Hi.........STAINLESS STEEL!!!! I don't know why or how, but it really does work. After cutting onions or garlic I was my hands with soap then I rub my hands along the kitchen faucet (where the water comes out)......& the odour is gone!!! Or, u can also buy a stainless steel disc that is made for just this purpose; but it may be hard to find.>>>>Zeta

Lemon juice or even lemons (I keep used up lemons in a baggie in the fridge for this purpose and also for freshening up the disposal). Also, I have purchaed bars of soap from a "gourmet" kitchen type of store called "kitchen soap". These bar soaps work excellent at neutralizing any kitchen odors, fish, garlic, onion etc... I keep the soap handy in a top drawer in my kitchen and use it regularly if I don't have lemons around. I fish often and on occasion keep a fish for the grille. Nothing gets rid of the odor like this stuff.

Buy an inexpensive tube of toothpaste to keep in the kitchen. Rub your hands with a little bit of the paste then rinse off. Works for onions, garlic, fish, etc.

Rub your hands with lemon and let the lemon stay for about 2 minutes then wash your hands with soap and warm water.

Rub your wet hands on stainless steel. Something like the sink spigot or if you have a stainless steel sink, just rub your wet hands on the sides. I don't know why this works, but, it's cheaper than buying a small piece of stainless steel for the same purpose.
