You are fine. Clean the cut with alcohol or non-scented antibacterial soap if you have any, but really, any regular soap should do. If its bad enough - after 24 hours, you can put some neosporin or bactraban on it.
Because of the potential for dirt being on your dog's nails - make sure you have had a tetinus shot within the past 10 years. Tetinus is found in the soil, and although its only a remote problem, be sure you have had your shot.

You'll survive! Dogs are dirty creatures, so you may want to give the scratch a little wash to avoid any bacteria or dirt from his nails getting under your skin. But unless you start seeing some crazy symptoms that merit a visit to the doctor, I wouldn't worry about it.

The shots protect him and you from dog diseases. You are in danger from bacteria in your dog's feet, attached to them by walking in the streets, mud, crap, etc, bacteria on your skin getting in, etc. You need to clean the wound and disinfect it with betadine, and a doctor would tell you to get a tetanus shot and take antibiotics for 4 days as a precaution. Most probably you'll be fine even if you just wash the wound with water and soap, but I am telling you waht the full measures are, because you can't know what your dog had stepped on.

You will be fine, just keep it clean. Dogs scratches and cat our different. Dogs do not use litter box's so no poo under the nails. This causes the cat scratch fever. No such things in dogs. None of my scratches from a dog ever scard either....
Have a great day!

I'm sorry, but I can't believe you asked that...
Would you ask that if your sister or child or a tree branch scratched you?
It is a scratch from a known source that you know is up to date on immunizations and is a well care for animal (we hope since it is your dog).
It is a scratch not a mauling. If it hurts, put neosporin plus on it cover it up and go do whatever it is you do all day.

attempt Advantix, it repels fleas, ticks and mosquitos. besides the fact that it sounds like it could't be the fleas. there is an hypersensitivity some canines get the place they're actual allergic to their own saliva, so each and every time they bite themselves, fleas or no longer, they irritate their pores and skin worse. maximum canines that have this hypersensitivity lose sufficient hair as to lead them to seem mangy, the undesirable issues. A vet can inform you for effective however. My mom's dogs has a comfortable case of this, and we by possibility got here upon some thing that worked for her. I say it that way by way of fact I have been given some thing for my dogs with organic factors at Wal-Mart and my husband hated the scent, so I gave it to my mom to attempt. this is made by employing Sargent's, and it particularly is in a litte tube you place on their neck like the Frontline or Advantix. each and all of the climate are organic oils, like oil of peppermint, cloves, etc. interestingly, the pests hate the scent as much as my husband did, by way of fact they stayed off my mom's dogs and all of her hair grew decrease back in view that she supply up biting. consistent with possibility it is going to paintings for you too.
